Anginetti, love knots, sponge cake cookies, Italian chocolate balls, nut horns, cappuccino biscotti — just to name a few of the cookies Sharon Bellisario bakes.

She runs her company, “NaNa’s Italian Treats,” out of her home on Spring Meadow Drive.

She began baking and cooking when she was a little girl with her NaNa Lucia. Since her NaNa did not speak very much English, nor did she read it, Bellisario used to read the ingredients and help her cook, she said.

As her talent developed, Bellisario taught Italian and international cooking through the adult education programs in the Williamsville School District.

From there, she was asked to be the original Kitchen Wizard for a local publication.

She wrote weekly recipes for Bells Markets, and helped to raise $20,000 for the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation by writing and selling a cookbook, she said.

Bellisario moved to Pittsburgh, 12 years ago, and began NaNa’s Tasty Treats there about six years later. She had a very successful business.

She moved back to Buffalo two-months ago, and she hopes to have the same good things that happened to her before, happen again, she said.

“I’ve always liked it here. Buffalo has been a good place for me many years ago,” Bellisario said. “Everything that has happened, has happened because of fate.”

Bellisario hopes to expand her business, eventually becoming a personal chef.

“The cookies are delicious,” Bellisario’s granddaughter, Lucia Marquart, 4, said.

She makes trays for company events, holiday parties and as gifts.
