The Lady Billies edged last year’s winner, Amherst, 96-84, to earn the top billing. The meet was held last Friday at Williamsville South.

“Last year when we hosted the meet good things happened and we continued that this year as we hosted them again,” said South boys coach Dan Syracuse. “Last year, many athletes performed their season bests and the same trend continued this year. This year, our girls came out on top.”

“It really was a big surprise and not expected,” said South girls coach Richard Grampp. “We have some great athletes like Amanda Breymeier, Kailyn Arcury, Andrea Dycha, and Elisa Frazier (who only ran one event). I didn’t think we had the depth to win it over Amherst who also is extremely good. We had a lot of season-best times and really that’s all that matters to me. We have some new kids that are really starting to make an impact and should continue to help maintain the past years of success at South.”

Sweet Home placed third with 82 points, Williamsville North came in fourth with 63 points and Williamsville East took fifth with 29 points.
