Events slated to recognize Memorial Day

This weekend, there are a few ceremonies in the town that will be held in recognition of Memorial Day.

AMVETS Post 449, 3758 Sheridan Drive, will hold its annual Memorial Day service at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at the monument on the corner of Main Street and Bailey Avenue.

The event will remember veterans from past wars as well as men and women now serving in the military. Also to be honored are Amherst veterans who died during the past year.

A remembrance ceremony will also be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Williamsville Cemetery, 5402 Main St. at Reist Street, Williamsville.

The ceremony will be held in partnership with Amherst Township VFW Post 416, George F. Lamm Post 622, the Town of Amherst and the Village of Williamsville.

The annual Memorial Day parade on Main Street will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 28.

The parade will begin at Williamsville South High School, 5950 Main St., Amherst, and proceed west on Main Street to its intersection with Los Robles Street in Williamsville.
